EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Jerome Jones scored 17 points, including two free throws to put his team ahead for good with 10:43 left in the game, and SIU-Edwardsville defeated Chicago State 71-57 on Saturday.
Chicago State (2-7) led virtually all of the first half and through the first 5 1/2 minutes of the second half before SIU-Edwardsville (2-3) came charging back.
Three of Jones' baskets were 3-pointers. Michael Messer scored 12 points and Maurice Wiltz scored 11, including three 3-pointers.
Clarke Rosenberg scored 19 points to lead Chicago State. Matt Ross scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Jeremy Robinson had 10 rebounds, helping Chicago State easily control the boards 48-29.
Chicago State made just 19 of 56 shots from the floor and only 7 of 28 shots from 3-point range.
