Jonathan Bernier: Traded To Toronto For Scrivens, Frattin, Draft Pick Staff

Update: Bernier was traded to the Maple Leafs from the Kings on Sunday in exchange for Matt Frattin, Ben Scrivens, and a future second-round draft pick.

Recommendation: Bernier is a former first-round draft pick and one of the most highly regarded backup goalies in the league, so it's no surprise that he was finally traded. He's now free from the shadow of Jonathan Quick, but will likely have to compete with incumbent starter James Reimer for playing time. Given that Reimer posted a 19-8-5 record and .924 save percentage last season, this can hardly be considered the optimal outcome for Bernier's fantasy owners in dynasty leagues. It's an improvement over his previous situation, but still disappointing if you were hoping for him to land in a slam-dunk situation for a starter's role between the pipes.
