John Wall posts double-double, Wizards defeat Magic
John Wall earned his 7th double-double this season, scoring 16 points and registering 13 assists, to help the Washington Wizards take down the Orlando Magic, 98-80. This is the 7th win for Washington (9-9) in its last 10 games.
Wall went 5-14 from the field, including 2-4 on 3-point attempts. Other top contributors for Washington included Trevor Ariza with 24 points and 6 rebounds, Nene Hilario with 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Marcin Gortat with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Despite the loss, Arron Afflalo put up 21 points for Orlando on 10-16 shooting. Victor Oladipo contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds and Nikola Vucevic finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
In addition to 20.0% from 3-point range, the Magic tallied an eFG% of just 40.9%. They are winless (0-2) on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Wizards, conversely, are 1-0 when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
Orlando (6-11) has now lost back-to-back games after falling to San Antonio on Friday.
