New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will be kept out of the lineup for the next two days because of a calf problem, the Newark Star-Ledger reported Saturday.
Jeter was to miss the remaining two games of the weekend series with the San Diego Padres and return to the lineup on Monday night when the Yankees play the the Chicago White Sox.
The 39-year-old veteran went 1-for-4 with a single in the series opener against the Padres on Friday night. Jeter has three hits, including a home run, in 17 plate appearances since he returned after missing the first 91 games of the season while recovering from a broken ankle suffered in the 2012 playoffs.
Upon his return to the Yankees on July 11, Jeter suffered a strained right quadriceps and missed additional games.
