The New York Yankees announced Friday that shortstop Derek Jeter will begin his rehab assignment Saturday for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Jeter is scheduled to play at least five innings at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Lehigh Valley.
Jeter broke his left ankle during the playoffs last year. He had surgery but a new break was found during spring training. He has not played since.
Third baseman Alex Rodriguez, who also has not played since having offseason hip surgery, was scheduled to play in a rehab game Friday in Tampa, Fla.
