Rookie point guard Trey Burke will make his NBA debut on Wednesday night for the Utah Jazz in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 2013 first-round draft choice missed the first 12 games with a fractured right index finger that he suffered during the preseason.
"I had butterflies every game last year in college, so I know I'll have butterflies tonight," Burke said, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. "But I think that's just excitement coming along with it. It's not about being nervous."
Burke, the national player of the year last season at Michigan, will not start. Veteran John Lucas III will remain in the lineup and Burke will come off the bench.
"We're going to bring him off, give him a couple minutes, see how he does, kind of work him back in," Jazz coach Ty Corbin said. "We'll start the process tonight."
Burke was mentioned as a potential NBA Rookie of the Year candidate before suffering the injury.
