Jason Peters zooms into offseason

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters did not get very deep into the real offseason – he’s free until the start of training camp now – before he got into trouble.

Peters has been arrested in Monroe, La., after drag racing and resisting an officer by flight. According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, Peters was travelling in excess of 100 mph as he was being pursued by a sheriff’s deputy.

Peters in a Camaro was racing another car at a stop light at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday. Peters is a car enthusiast. He missed all of last season because of an Achilles tendon injury.

"We are aware of the reports that Jason Peters was arrested this morning in Lousiana," an Eagles spokesman said, per Bowen. "We have been in contact with Jason and due to the legal nature of this matter, we will not have any further comment at this point."
