The Boston Celtics beat the New York Knicks in a close one, 90-86. Boston (11-14) picked up the win after falling to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.
Jared Sullinger put up 19 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and 7-7 from the free throw line, in a strong performance. Other key players for Boston included Avery Bradley with 13 points and 6 rebounds, and Brandon Bass with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Carmelo Anthony had another quality performance for New York in the loss, scoring 26 points on 9-24 shooting (3-7 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 5-6 from the free throw line. Amare Stoudemire contributed 18 points and 5 rebounds.
In addition to 23.8% from 3-point range, the Knicks tallied an eFG% of just 43.1%. They are 1-5 on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Celtics, conversely, are 4-1 when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
This drops New York (6-16) to 0-2 against Boston on the year.
