James Madison forward Rayshawn Goins was arrested Sunday on charges of obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.
First reported by Mark Self of the Harrisonburg (Va.) Daily News-Record, Goins was released on his own recognizance on $2,500 unsecured bond. The arrest, which took place the same day James Madison learned it would play LIU-Brooklyn in Dayton, Ohio on Wednesday in its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1994, stemmed from an incident at a party Saturday night that "got out of hand," according to the report.
"The athletic administration is aware of the situation," the schools said in a statement. ""We will not be providing any additional comments until we review this matter in the morning."
Goins is averaging 12.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season, and scored 14 points to go with 13 rebounds in the Dukes' 70-57 victory over Northeastern in the CAA tournament title game.
James Madison is slated for a 6:40 ET tip-off against LIU-Brooklyn on Wednesday in a first-round game. The winner will move on to play Indiana, the No. 1 seed in the East bracket.
