Update: The Lions continue to lean toward having Best (concussion) start the season on the PUP list, the Detroit News reports.
Recommendation: On the plus side, Best, who continues to work out on his own, has not suffered any reported setbacks. "He's doing great," said coach Jim Schwartz. "He's working out hard. He's just not been cleared." Meanwhile, Mikel Leshoure -- who is set to serve a two-game suspension to start the season -- has been sharing first-team RB reps with Kevin Smith this week. Assuming Smith stays healthy, he is on track to start for the Lions out of the gate, but as the season unfolds, Leshoure and (hopefully) Best will be worked back into the team's backfield mix.
