J.J. Hickson: Named Starting Center

RotoWire.com Staff

Update: Hickson will enter the season as Portland's starting center, The Oregonian reports.

Recommendation: Hickson was expected to battle rookie Meyers Leonard for the starting job, but the incumbent Hickson has looked good in camp so far, which was enough to convince the new coaching staff to label him the starter. After failing to find meaningful minutes with the Kings and having his contract bought out, Hickson was impressive in a 19-game stint with the Blazers, averaging 15.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He could approach those totals again in 2012-13, especially if Leonard fails to quickly adapt to the NBA.
