Last time Mike Poole donned a college uniform, Mike Rice prowled the Rutgers' sideline.
Next time Mike Poole dons a college uniform, that uniform will read Iona.
Poole, one of five players to decide to leave after the Mike Rice abuse scandal said earlier this week he was transferring to Iona. He will seek a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately and not sit out the one-year waiting period per NCAA transfer rules.
"I felt like I needed a new start with all the stuff that was going on at Rutgers," Poole told "It was weighing me down."
Poole averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game during his junior season at Rutgers. The Gaels led the nation in scoring (80.4 ppg) last season and with guard Sean Armand and forward David Laury III returning Poole will be counted on to provide a defensive presence.
