Cleveland Indians pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka has accepted an assignment to Triple-A, MLB.com reported Monday.
Matsuzaka will receive a $100,000 bonus for accepting the assignment, and he can opt out of his contract if he's not in the majors by June 1.
Matsuzaka, 32, was 1-7 with a 8.28 ERA for the Boston Red Sox last season. His best year was 2007, when he went 18-3 with a 2.90 ERA.
He and Matt Capps both were told by the Indians they won't be on the Opening Day roster.
It's unclear whether Capps will accept the assignment to Triple-A.
