Indian Super League 2016: Delhi Dynamos make late additions to squad, rope in Lalruatthara and Badara Badji

The Pride have added a defender and a striker as they end their pre-season tour of England and Sweden ahead of the 2016 ISL...

With less than a fortnight to go for the first ball to be kicked in the 2016 edition of the Indian Super League (ISL), Delhi Dynamos have announced the twin signings of Lalruatthara and Badara Badji to their squad following their return to the country after a pre-season trip in Europe.

Mizoram born Lalruatthara was part of the Aizawl FC setup who impressed one and all in the 2016 I-League. He operates primarily as a fullback, adept in opearting from both flanks.

Joining the Pride on loan, Lalruatthara made his senior debut with Luangmual FC in 2012, where he stayed for a year before signing up with Mizoram Premier League club Chanmari FC in 2013 and has been playing for Aizawl for the past two seasons.

"This is my first time in the ISL and I am very excited to be part of Delhi Dynamos. It is a huge opportunity for me to prove my worth and show everyone my capability as a player. I am looking forward to the new season and hope to learn a lot from the coach and my teammates," the 21-year-old Lalruatthara said.

The 22 year Badji on the other hand hails from Senegal and is a centre-forward also comfortable in a playmaking role. The final foreign acquisition by the DEN Networks owned franchise arrives at the club from Golden Lions Soccer Academy, Ghana and is known for his fiery pace and ability in the air. He has scored six goals in 29 matches for the club across all competitions.

"I am really thrilled to have been given this opportunity of joining the club and look forward to my stint in the HeroISL. I had the chance to follow few games of the league last season and was really impressed by the quality of the football. It is a good league and I feel it is the perfect platform for me develop more as a player and prove my worth in a different league," Badji said.

Head coach Gianluca Zambrotta approved of the signings; "I am really glad to have both the players in my squad and I am really looking forward to working with both the players. Badji has been part of the Dinamo Zagreb team and has also scored few goals which talks about his quality as a striker", he said.

"His ability to put the opposition defence under pressure and score crucial goals will help us a lot in the season, while Lalruatthara is an exciting young talent and his addition will bring in more energy and speed to the squad which obviously will be very crucial for us in the season ahead," Zambrotta added.

Delhi Dynamos start their 2016 campaign at the home of defending champions Chennaiyin FC on October 6th.
