Iman Shumpert bares just about all for cameo in Kanye's ‘Fade' video

When I heard that MTV planned to give Kanye West four uninterrupted minutes of screen time to do whatever he saw fit during Sunday’s 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, my immediate reaction was the same one the rest of you probably had: “At what point will a rotation swingman from the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers become involved in the proceedings?”

The answer: about three minutes into Yeezy’s overtime drop — because he obviously was never going to stick to just four minutes! — of the video for “Fade,” the third single off his latest album, “The Life of Pablo.” The upset: the wing in question was not a Shirtless J.R. Smith, but rather a different Cav and former New York Knick: Iman Shumpert, whose fiancee, singer/actress/dancer Teyana Taylor, starred in the video, and at one point became a cat?

The gym equipment in the background — which, let’s be honest, is definitely what you’re focusing on right now — offers an indication of the setting of the video, which saw Taylor dancing very, very hard in a barely-there approximation of workout gear a la “Flashdance” in a weight room. There’s nothing specifically explicit in the video, which is streaming now on Tidal, but some workplaces might be less welcoming of Lots of Skin and Buttock than others, so viewer discretion is advised for the clips below.

After her grueling workout, Taylor hits the showers … where she’s joined by Shump for some, um, alone time, together:

And then … well, then Taylor got her Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber/Snapchat filter on, while Shump and their baby — Iman Jr., born back in December and, as you might remember, delivered by Shump with his bare hands and some headphones — sat beside her amid a flock of sheep. You know, like how we all spend our Sunday nights with the family.

Our friends at SuperFan TV have a bit more on Taylor’s turn, and Shump’s cameo:

While it certainly wasn’t what most people were chatting about after the video’s debut, Shump’s appearance drew a certain amount of respectful applause from those following along at home:

… which the man himself appreciated:

Yes, yes, shouts to Ye … but also, truly: shouts to you, Shump, on what seems like it was a very fun part of a very fun summer vacation.
