Illinois-Chicago snapped its three-game losing streak and guaranteed no worse than a .500 record by completing a season sweep of Wright State with a 60-55 win Tuesday in Chicago.
Daniel Barnes scored 13 points and Hayden Humes added 10 as the Flames survived poor foul shooting to edge the Raiders at UIC Pavilion, clinching a home game in the Horizon League tournament on March 5.
Barnes added a career-high nine rebounds for UIC (16-13, 7-8 Horizon), and Gary Talton drilled four free throws in the final 20.5 seconds to wrap it up. The Flames won despite making just 20 of 32 at the foul line.
JT Yoho scored a game-high 16 points for Wright State (18-11, 9-6), hitting a 3-pointer with 12.5 seconds remaining to draw the Raiders within 58-55. However, Talton sank two foul shots after Yoho committed his fifth foul to give UIC insurance.
Jerran Young added 13 points and Kendall Griffin tallied 10 for the Raiders, who made just 40 percent of their field-goal attempts and converted just eight of 15 free throws.
