CHICAGO -- Josh Crittle scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Illinois-Chicago ran its winning streak to three games with a 56-45 victory over Southeast Missouri on Saturday at the Pavilion.
Gary Talton added 14 points, Daniel Barnes had 10 and Hayden Humes hauled down 12 rebounds, including on the 10 defensive board, for the Flames (4-1).
Corey Wilford scored 15 points for the Redhawks (3-4) who have lost three straight games. Tyler Stone added 14 points and Nino Johnson had 10 rebounds.
Stone's jumper with 8:26 left in regulation forced a 39-39 tie, but Southeast Missouri couldn't climb ahead. The Flames reclaimed the lead for good on Humes' layup and went on to outscore the Redhawks, 17-6, down the stretch as Talton scored six points.
Illinois-Chicago shot only 28 percent from the field (19-of-66) and was 7-of-31 (22.6 percent) in the second half. But the Flames outrebounded the Redhawks, 50-40, had an 18-0 advantage in points turnovers (Southeast Missouri made 10), and a 13-2 edge on second chance shots.
The Flames travel to Northern Illinois on Tuesday, while Southeast Missouri hosts Hannibal-LaGrange Monday.
