Anaheim Ducks veteran Teemu Selanne will undergo oral surgery and miss two weeks after an errant stick hit him in the mouth on Tuesday night.
The 43-year-old winger lost several teeth and needed 40 stitches, the team said Wednesday. Selanne was sent back to California for oral surgery and will be out two weeks.
Philadelphia's Luke Schenn caught Selanne with a stick to the face in the corner during the Ducks' 3-2 victory over the Flyers. Selanne immediately fell to his knees and remained down face-first with blood dripping on the ice while a trainer attended to him.
Selanne is playing his final season in the NHL in 2013-14.
In 11 games this season, Selanne has contributed significantly with three goals and four assists.
