Former Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ron Hextall is back with the Flyers as their assistant general manager, the team announced.
Hextall, 49, had been the Los Angeles Kings' assistant general manager since 2005-06.
ProHockeyTalk.com speculated that the Flyers may be grooming Hextall to become the general manager at some point. Current Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren had held that position since 2006-2007.
Hextall played 11 seasons for the Flyers during an NHL career that ended in 1999.
