Denny Hamlin changed his paint scheme for Sunday's race in Brooklyn, Mich. to the one Jason Leffler used when he drove the No. 11 car in 19 races for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2005.
Leffler died at 37 years old on Wednesday in an accident on a dirt track in New Jersey.
The idea for the paint scheme change was Hamlin's and was approved by JGR and sponsor FedEx. Hamlin drove the No. 11 car for the final 11 races in 2005 and has been the primary driver ever since.
The paint scheme is primarily black this year, but the team re-wrapped it in the primarily white paint scheme used when Leffler drove the No. 11.
