Greg Hardy reportedly indicted on felony cocaine possession
Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy, one of the most controversial players in recent history due to an alleged domestic violence incident against this then-girlfriend, has some more serious legal trouble.
USA Today reported that Hardy has been indicted on a count of felony cocaine possession. He faces a prison term of at least 180 days and up to two years if found guilty, USA Today said.
In late September police Hardy was pulled over on a routine traffic stop. Police found an estimated 0.7 grams of cocaine in his car, along with marijuana remnants according to USA Today’s report.
Hardy spent most of the 2014 season with the Carolina Panthers on the commissioner’s exempt list after he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend. Charges were dropped when Hardy’s accuser wouldn’t testify in the case. Hardy signed with the Dallas Cowboys, was suspended 10 games (reduced to four) by the NFL but was disruptive in the locker room and on the sideline during his lone season with the Cowboys. He was not signed as a free agent this past offseason and there was very little interest in him from NFL teams.
