GREEN BAY -- Green Bay jumped out to a 14-2 early lead and went on from there to a 58-45 victory over
Loyola-Chicago in Horizon League basketball Wednesday night.
The Phoenix (7-9, 1-2) was up by 20 points at 28-8 before giving up the final four points of the first
half, but got the gap up to 22 points at 39-17 less than seven minutes into the second period.
The closest the visiting Ramblers (10-5, 1-2) could come until the closing seconds was a 14-point deficit at 48-34 with 6:35 left in the game.
The Ramblers were looking for a fourth consecutive win on the road, but now have lost back-to-back games
for the first time since November, when they dropped their first two outings in the USF Invitational in
Tampa. They were coming off a loss at home to Youngstown State.
Poor shooting put the Ramblers in their early hole.
They made only five of 26 field-goal attempts in the first half before finishing with 18 baskets in 57
Devon Turk with 11 points was the only player in double figures for Loyola.
The Phoenix shot 44.9 (22 of 49) for the game in snapping a two-game losing streak and improving to 6-1
at home.
Green Bay's Jordan Fouse led all scorers with 13 points.
