Google Glass Debuts Diane von Furstenberg Frames
Google Glass is looking much more stylish thanks to a new collaboration with designer Diane von Furstenberg.
After announcing her designs during Fashion Week, the mastermind behind the iconic wrap dress has lent her style savvy to Google Glass x DVF, a chic take on the device’s original design. The bundle, now available on Net-a-porter, includes a Google Glass, DVF eyeglass frames and an aviator or shield-shaped shade.
However, being fashion-forward will cost consumers a bit more. While the traditional Glass costs $1,500, the DVF version is priced at $1,800.
The designer is also gearing up for her new E! reality competition “The DVF Project” (working title) in which contestants will vie to become a global brand ambassador for her label.
Von Furstenberg recently chatted with Google Glass lead designer Isabelle Olsson about the evolution of their collaboration.
“I described it as a scuba mask with a phone attached to it and cable running down to a backpack,” Olsson said of the design’s early stages, explaining that the transformation took over a year and a half. Von Furstenberg added that she chose aviator and shield sunglasses because they are two of her favorite shapes.
