Giants make series of moves

The underachieving San Francisco Giants made a series of moves Monday that could prepare them as sellers prior to Wednesday's trade deadline.
Infielder Tony Abreu was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left knee. Abreu has appeared in 34 games this season and is hitting .266 with a homer and seven RBIs. Also, reserve outfielder Kensuke Tanaka was optioned to Triple-A Fresno. Tanaka was hitting .267 with a pair of RBIs in seven games since being recalled July 9.
Outfielder Roger Kieschnick and infielder Brett Pill were then recalled from Fresno.
The 26-year-old Kieschnick was hitting .273 with an .836 OPS, 13 home runs and 56 RBIs in 422 plate appearances for Fresno. Pill played in 14 games in the majors earlier this year and hit .148. He was batting .344 with 18 homers and 79 RBIs at Fresno.
