PHILADELPHIA -- Josh Brown kicked five field goals and the New York Giants became the second straight team to shut down the Philadelphia Eagles and their highly-touted offense 15-7 Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
It was the second straight win for the Giants (2-6).
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick started the game, but did not finish. Vick, who missed the last two games with a sore hamstring, aggravated the injury and was replaced by rookie Matt Barkley with about 2 minutes left in the first half. Barkley got the call because No. 2 quarterback Nick Foles was deactivated with a concussion.
Vick did not have much fun even before he reinjured his hamstring. His first possession ended with an interception, his second ended with a sack and his third with an intentional grounding penalty. Vick completed six of nine passes for 31 yards and the interception, which added up to a passer rating of 32.4.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning completed 25 of 39 passes for 246 yards and did not throw an interception for the second straight game after throwing 16 in the Giants' first six games.
The Eagles (3-5) scored their only touchdown on a special teams gaffe by the Giants late in the fourth quarter. Long snapper Zak DeOssie sailed the ball over the head of punter Steve Weatherford and the Eagles' Najee Goode recovered it in the end zone to make it 15-7 with 4:11 left in the game.
The Giants scored first on a 40-yard field goal by Brown with 7:30 left in the first quarter after safety Antrel Rolle intercepted the second pass thrown by Vick. New York made it 6-0 near the end of the opening period on Brown's 44-yarder with 2:59 left in the second quarter.
Brown delivered again on the Giants' next possession. New York really failed to take advantage of good field position with a first-and-goal from the 5. But two penalties and three incomplete passes later, Brown connected from 33 yards to make it 9-0 with 10:25 left in the first half.
After another Eagles possession went nowhere, another Giants drive moved the ball deep into Eagles territory and another drive fizzled, which meant another field goal -- this one from 46 yards with 2:24 left in the second quarter.
The teams went into their locker rooms at halftime with Josh Brown leading the Eagles 12-0.
