ITG was on deck for the open portion of Florida’s 13th practice of the spring Monday afternoon, the penultimate practice before the Gators hold their annual spring game in The Swamp on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The portion open to the media as usual consisted of a flex period, an 11-on-11 fastball period, independent period, and two more periods.
Below are observations of what we were able to catch from the action.
--For the sixth consecutive practice with a portion open to the media (practices No. 3, 6, 7, 10, 11 and 13), redshirt freshman quarterback Feleipe Franks worked with the 1’s in 11-on-11 fastball. As Jim McElwain continues to mention that there’s separation building in the quarterback race as it sorts itself out, there’s your sign. It’s been a common practice of McElwain to alternate competing quarterbacks in fastball drills during offseasons of years past, but Franks keeps solidifying his role with the 1’s.
