BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) -- Tyrell Nelson came off the bench to score 20 points and lead Gardner Webb's 106-54 rout of Clearwater Christian Saturday night.
The Runnin' Bulldogs took a while to get going. The game was tied, 9-9 with just over 16 minutes to play in the first half. But once Gardner-Webb got rolling, it never looked back, building a 62-24 lead at halftime.
Starters Jerome Hill and Donta Harper had 13 and 12 points, respectively, and Mike Byron and Naji Hibbert each added 10. The Runnin' Bulldogs (6-5) shot a blistering 70.5 percent from the field (43 of 61) and 13 players contributed to the output.
The Cougars, a Division II Christian college from Clearwater, Fla., got a game-high 26 points from Tristan Shore, but he was the only scorer to reach double figures and the team converted just 21 of 60 shots from the field.
