Franchitti earns pole at Sonoma

Dario Franchitti has earned the pole for IndyCar's Grand Prix of Sonoma.
Franchitti posted a fast lap of 1 minute, 17.5271 seconds on the 2.385-mile track on Saturday to edge out Scott Dixon and Will Power for the top spot in Sunday's race. Power had won the pole the previous three years.
Defending IndyCar champion Ryan Hunter-Reay qualified fourth, and current points leader Helio Castroneves was fifth.
