Former Major League Baseball player Jai Miller has enrolled at Alabama and intends to play football for the Crimson Tide, BamaOnline reported Monday.
Miller, 27, played briefly for the Florida Marlins (2008), Kansas City Royals (2010) and Oakland A's (2011).
The Selma, Alabama, native was drafted by the Marlins in 2003 and decided to pursue professional baseball instead of accepting a football scholarship to Stanford.
Miller played 10 seasons in the minor leagues and had 68 major-league at-bats.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Miller is expected to play defensive back for Alabama.
"I think the desire was there on both sides to get him back into football and see what he's capable of doing," said Matthew Elliott, Miller's brother-in-law. "If the opportunity is there for him to play professional ball, then the best situation for him would be to play for one of the best coaches in the game and that would be Coach Saban on the defensive side."
