Florida tight end A.C. Leonard and coach Will Muschamp have decided it best for Leonard to transfer.
Muschamp said Wednesday at SEC Media Days that Leonard, 20, would benefit from a fresh start.
Leonard pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charges in April after a fight with his girlfriend in February led to his arrest and then was cited for driving with a suspended license in May.
The 6-4, 244-pounder recovered from August knee surgery to return at full strength around midseason and in the final five games caught eight passes for 99 yards as a freshman in 2011. He was expected to play a bigger role in the offense for the Gators this season.
