Florida State star Derwin James (knee) won't return during regular season
Florida State standout Derwin James won’t see the field for the rest of the regular season.
James, a sophomore safety, suffered a torn meniscus in FSU’s Week 2 win over Charleston Southern. Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters Wednesday that James could potentially return for a bowl game.
“You won’t see him back during the regular season,” Fisher said, per Warchant.com. “Possibly for a bowl game or something like that. Again, I keep saying it’s a matter of time on that injury.”

Per Warchant, Fisher has indicated that he does not plan to redshirt James, despite him presumably being a candidate for a medical redshirt.
James was a five-star recruit in the 2015 class and immediately produced on the field for the Seminoles, totaling 91 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks as a true freshman.
