Senior guard Greg Gantt poured in a career-high 34 points, and freshman guard Stefan Moody added 17 off the bench as Florida Atlantic held off Stetson 88-78 Thursday night in Deland, Fla.
Moody hit eight of 10 free-throw attempts in the last two minutes.
The visiting Owls (4-4) took an early 15-5 edge and led 30-14 midway through the first half, but Stetson (2-5) continued to hang around until the closing minutes.
Gantt hit 13 of 23 field-goal attempts, including five of eight tries from 3-point range. He was coming off back-to-back efforts of 29 points in his previous two games, games that represented his previous scoring high.
Over his last three outings, he is 32-for-54 (59.3 percent) from the field and 13-of-20 (65 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc.
Though they never got closer than seven points after falling behind by double digits, the Hatters kept within range with four players scoring in double figures.
Senior center Adam Pegg led Stetson with 24 points. Freshman guard Logan Irwin added 13, junior guard Chris Perez had 12, and senior guard Joe Naburgs added 11.
In addition to Gantt and Moody, senior forward Jordan McCoy and junior guard Pablo Bertone had 12 each for the Owls.
