The Calgary Flames placed goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff and center Mikael Backlund on injured reserve, the team announced Friday.
Kiprusoff, 36, suffered a lower body injury that is believed to be a knee problem, and he did not play in Thursday's game against Columbus. He won't play on Saturday in Vancouver, but he could return next week.
Backlund will be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee. In eight games, Backlund has three goals and one assist.
The Flames also recalled center Ben Street from AHL Abbotsford and activated defenseman Anton Babchuk from injured reserve.
