FIFA bans Barcelona from signing players

ZURICH (AP) -- FIFA has banned Barcelona from signing any players until the summer of 2015 because of rule violations.

FIFA's disciplinary committee found the Spanish champion breached the rules ''relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.''

World soccer's governing body also fined Barcelona $509,000 and gave the club 90 days ''to regularize the situation of all minor players concerned.''

The punishment prevents Barcelona from signing any players for the next two transfer windows. It also leaves in limbo recent agreements with three players.

The Spanish champion team hasn't commented on the sanctions and can appeal.
