Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith told ESPN radio affiliate 790 the Zone on Friday that starting free safety Thomas DeCoud will miss Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with a concussion.
DeCoud was injured while trying to tackle Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy during last Sunday's game.
DeCoud has 58 tackles and two pass breakups in 13 starts this season.
Rookie Zeke Motta will start in place of DeCoud. Motta had 10 tackles after replacing DeCoud against the Packers. Motta has a cast on his right hand from a broken finger.
The Falcons have three rookies starting in the secondary to go with veteran strong safety William Moore. Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford start at cornerback.
