Fairfield beats Saint Peter's 61-44 for 5th in row

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- Maurice Barrow scored 15 points to lead Fairfield to a 61-44 victory over Saint Peter's on Thursday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

It was the fifth consecutive victory for the Stags (15-10, 7-6), including two over the Peacocks (7-16, 2-11). Before its current streak, Fairfield had lost five straight, and before that the Stags had won six straight.

Barrow has made 26 of 40 shots (65 percent) during the current streak, including 5 of 7 Thursday.

Colin Nickerson added 14 points and Derek Needham 13 for Fairfield, which led 30-19 at halftime and outshot Saint Peter's 52.4 percent (11 of 21) to 28.6 percent (8 of 28) in the second half.

Darius Conley led the Peacocks with nine points.

Fairfield announced that its game against Manhattan, scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, has been postponed to 7 p.m. Monday because of the winter storm forecast for the Northeast.
