Free agent Josh Smith met with the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night, across town from where the Houston Rockets were meeting with Dwight Howard.
ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported that the Pistons will make a strong push for the 6-foot-9 power forward, who has played nine seasons with the Atlanta Hawks since they drafted him out of high school.
Smith, 27, averaged 17.5 points and 8.4 rebounds last season while earning $13.2 million and figures to be one of the most pursued players in what is considered a sub-par class of free agents.
The Pistons believe Smith would be a good fit with talented front-court players Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.
