Elon dominates Marist for the 75-48 victory

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- Tanner Samson scored a game-high 17 points as Elon dominated Marist 75-48 on Sunday.

Samson hit his first three shots, all 3-pointers, as Elon (2-0) opened the game on a 13-5 run. Marist (0-2) pulled to 20-10, and that's as close as it got as the Phoenix unleashed a 27-6 run, going into half time with a 47-16 lead.

Lucas Troutman scored 8 of his 16 points during that spurt. Sebastian Koch led the team with six assists.

Elon shot 50 percent from the field and went 10 of 27 from beyond the arc.

The Red Foxes struggled mightily from the field, shooting only 31 percent and missing all 14 of its 3-point attempts. Chavaughn Lewis led the Red Foxes with 13 points while Khallid Hart added 11.

Lewis' points pushed him over the 1,000-point mark for his career.
