Eight teams interested in Oden

Eight teams are interested in free agent center Greg Oden, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Oden, who starred at Ohio State and was drafted No. 1 by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2007, has not played in an NBA game since Dec. 5, 2009, because of chronic knee injuries.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs are all reportedly interested in the 25-year-old.

However, ESPN.com reported that Oden is likely to choose from among five teams: the Spurs, Heat, Cavaliers, Celtics and Grizzlies.

The Cavaliers have a crowded frontcourt that includes Anthony Bennett, Tristan Thompson, Anderson Varejao and Tyler Zeller. The Celtics are rebuilding their roster. Grizzlies traded for Kosta Koufos to go with Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol.

The two-time defending NBA champion Heat are in need of a center. The Kings are making several changes with new ownership. The Mavericks could use depth at center even if they are able to land Dwight Howard.

The Pacers already have Roy Hibbert and Ian Mahinmi. The Spurs may lose big man Tiago Splitter to free agency.

In 82 regular season games, Oden has averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks.
