Eddie Lacy is inactive against the 49ers

Running back Eddie Lacy is inactive for Sunday afternoon’s game against San Francisco, the Seattle Seahawks announced Sunday. Lacy has not been dealing with an injury, meaning that he’s a healthy scratch from the lineup.

Signed in the offseason to a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million, the 27-year-old Lacy has been an early disappointment with his new team, despite making weight on multiple occasions. In the Seahawks’ 17-9 loss to Green Bay last week, he managed a paltry 3 yards on five carries against his former team.

A former second-team All-Pro, Lacy is fighting for reps in a crowded backfield, featuring Thomas Rawls, C.J. Prosise and promising rookie Chris Carson.

Surely, the Seahawks could have used this money to address their porous offensive line, or perhaps add depth elsewhere. Once thought of as the potential lead back in Seattle, the fact that Lacy is a healthy scratch in Week 2 is not encouraging for his 2017 season prospects.
