Eagles injury update for Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014.
The Philadelphia Eagles head into their 2014 NFL season opener at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a relatively healthy 53-man roster.
One of the players seen practicing was Eagles running back Chris Polk. It was reported on Saturday that Polk, who missed most of the summer with a slight hamstring tear, expects to be ready for Week 1. The Eagles backup ball carrier confirmed that sentiment after Tuesday's practice. Polk said he was a full participant in practice and added that he felt good. This is an encouraging sign for the Eagles running back depth and special teams unit.
Tobin's status for Sunday's game is in serious doubt. The second-year offensive lineman spoke with reporters after Tuesday's practice and confirmed he suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Eagles-Jets preseason finale game. The play where the injury occurred didn't look very good at all, so it's probably a positive sign to see Tobin is only out for a few weeks. Still, when healthy Tobin is likely the first offensive lineman off the bench while Allen Barbre is starting during Lane Johnson's four-game suspension.
Huff is still dealing with a shoulder injury (AC Sprain) that he suffered during the Eagles-Patriots game in mid-August. A timetable hasn't been offered regarding Huff's return. If Huff doesn't play against the Jaguars, cornerback Nolan Carroll II will return kickoffs for Philadelphia.
As for the Jaguars, former Eagles tight end Clay Harbor is expected to miss the game.
More on the Eagles-Jaguars injury report later this week. NFL teams only announce official injury reports on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
