The Miami Dolphins and first-round quarterback Ryan Tannehill reportedly have come to terms on a contract and Tannehill was expected to report to training camp Saturday night.
Tannehill had been working out at IMG Performance Institute in Bradenton, Fla.
Tannehill did not want to miss significant practice time to quibble over contract language, ProFootballTalk and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported. The deal is expected to be the standard four-year contract, with a team option for a fifth season.
The former Texas A&M quarterback was the eighth overall pick in this year's draft.
Veterans David Garrard and Matt Moore are the favorites to emerge from camp as the starter.
Two first-round picks remain unsigned: wide receivers Justin Blackmon (Jacksonville) and Kendall Wright (Tennessee).
