Dolphins DL Phillip Merling and OT Lydon Murtha signed their restricted free-agent tenders on Tuesday, officially keeping them in Miami for the 2012 season. Each player will earn $1.26 million next season.
Merling, who is set to enter his fifth NFL season, is a former second-round pick of the team. He has recorded just seven total tackles in 15 games the past two years after a promising start to his career. He missed the first 11 games of the 2010 season after tearing his Achilles tendon in the offseason.
Murtha missed all of the 2011 season after going on injured reserve in the preseason. He started four games for the Dolphins in 2010.
