The Miami Dolphins got a scare when standout left tackle Jake Long had to leave practice with a knee injury on Monday, but the injury turned out to be only a sprained medial collateral ligament, and he is expected to be ready for the season opener, the Palm Beach Post reported.
Coach Joe Philbin did not give a status report on Long after practice, and the Post based its report on sources.
According to the Miami Herald, Long fell to the ground after blocking in pass protection. He remained on the ground for a few minutes, and eventually got to his feet. Trainers focused on the area between his knee and ankle.
Later, Long was walking under his own power.
Long, 27, is considered as one of the best left tackles in football. He has been named to the Pro Bowl in all four of his seasons in Miami.
