As part of pre-game festivities celebrating Defender of the Fatherland Day on Thursday, SKA of the KHL had a very special guest do the honors for the ceremonial puck drop before they faced Vityaz in Game 2 of their first-round series.

They didn’t bring out a member of the military or summon an ex-SKA player, however. SKA called on a very special dog named Jay, a member of the Guard Service, who did a very good job because he’s a very good boy.

Good move by Jay’s handler to led him have the puck. That thing’s gonna get so chewed up now. But who could be mad at this very special boy?

SKA would go on to win in a 7-2 rout to take a 2-0 series lead.
