Dodgers' Puig out with sore hip

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was left out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants because of a sore hip.

Puig, who is hitting .339 with 16 home runs, becomes part of a growing list of injured Dodgers players.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was not certain when Puig would return.

"I'm thinking somewhere between seven and 10 days for him, hopefully, maybe two or three weeks, I don't know," Mattingly said, according to ESPN.com. "Or, it could be tomorrow. I'm not sure."

No further tests for Puig have been scheduled.

Puig has been bothered by hip problems periodically over the past few weeks.

The Dodgers held a 12-game lead in the National League West heading into Sunday's action, and their magic number to clinch the West was four games.

Also out of Sunday's lineup for the Dodgers were Carl Crawford (back), Andre Ethier (ankle) and Hanley Ramirez (hamstring).

Matt Kemp has missed 86 games with ankle, shoulder and hamstring injuries. He could be activated as soon as Monday.
