Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw will not make his scheduled start Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals, and the team announced the 2011 Cy Young Award winner is out indefinitely due to inflammation in his right hip.
Kershaw will see a specialist in New York on Tuesday to determine whether he will need surgery. Kershaw (12-9, 2.70 ERA) leads the National League with 206 2/3 innings.
Rookie right-hander Stephen Fife will start Sunday for the Dodgers, who already have lost starters Chad Billingsley (elbow) and Ted Lilly (shoulder) for the season.
Manager Don Mattingly said the Dodgers, who are battling for a wild-card spot, will go to a four-man rotation as much as possible in the final 17 games.
