The Arizona Diamondbacks will cut ties with infielder Geoff Blum, the 14-year veteran announced through Twitter on Friday.
"Later today @Dbacks will announce my release. I am grateful for the opportunity I was given here. #Dbacks," Blum wrote, according to MLB.com.
Blum, 39, is hitting just .143 in 17 games with Arizona this year. He has spent much of the season on the disabled list.
Blum is in his second year with Arizona. He has also played for the Montreal Expos, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays, San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox.
