The mother of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant apparently has decided that she does not want to press assault charges against her son, NBC 5 in Dallas-Fort Worth reported Monday.
Police had arrested Bryant on a misdemeanor family violence charge on July 16, two days after he allegedly assaulted his mother, Angela Bryant, during an argument at her home. He allegedly hit his mother in the face with a baseball cap and grabbed her T-shirt.
On Monday, according to the NBC 5 report, the district attorney's office received an affidavit of non-prosecution that was signed by Angela Bryant.
That could end the prosecution of her son, although officials in the district attorney's office may want to discuss the decision with Angela Bryant. The victim's willingness to testify is a major part of such cases.
Bryant, 23, had 63 catches for 928 yards last season.
