The New Jersey Devils placed goalie Martin Brodeur on injured reserve Tuesday, retroactive to Feb. 24.
Brodeur was a last-minute scratch from Sunday's game against Winnipeg due to what the team called a "soreness" that developed during pre-game warmups. The 40-year-old won't be eligible to play for the Devils until the March 4 contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Devils recalled goalie Keith Kincaid to the active roster on Tuesday to replace Brodeur. Johan Hedberg will likely get the start in net for New Jersey on Thursday in Winnipeg.
Broedur is 8-2-3 with a 2.23 goals-against average for the Devils this season.
